Boca Raton, FL — Retail employees “are being asked to do too much,” and lots of are “leaving or throwing up their hands,” says a researcher from Florida Atlantic University.

In a college press launch, Melanie Lorenz, an affiliate professor of selling within the FAU College of Business, added that many retail employees are tasked with policing hostile clients and confronting shoplifters, “often without extra money or training.” This can result in unfavourable feelings and nervousness.

Lorenz was a part of a workforce of researchers from 4 totally different universities who used a mixture of in-depth employee interviews, experiments, and surveys to research the impact of policing office insurance policies on frontline employees and their managers.
