what jobs are good for a mom who wants to lean out?

It’s the Thursday “ask the readers” query. A reader writes:

After struggling to steadiness it all around the previous 12 months, I’ve determined to be part of the various mothers who lean out of their careers as soon as they’ve kids (I by no means thought I’d be right here!). I’m extremely tempted to stand on my soapbox explaining to all how we’d like to help households — possibly if I had a 12 months after my first little one was born to settle into my new life, I wouldn’t depart, or if the PTO/sick time adequately supported docs’ appointments, illness from daycare, and household time — however that isn’t the purpose of my query.

I need to take a step again however, for many causes, not depart the workforce utterly. With that, I’m coming to phrases with the truth that my present profession doesn’t align with what I want in my subsequent step. Today I’m a product supervisor working with a software program improvement workforce to construct new product options. In this function, I leverage many expertise and am open to studying one thing new!

This is the place I cross it to you and your readers. What are different moms venturing into (no MLMs)? What careers do others have (and luxuriate in) that meet some or all of those standards:

    • 2 – 3 days of labor per week
    • Flexible schedule
    • Mostly impartial work (non-meetings)
    • Low psychological load function
    • Ability to accommodate sick time
    • Fair compensation

I perceive I might not be in a position to examine all the above, however I hope the reply isn’t to depart the workforce completely or endure, because the working world wasn’t constructed for mothers.

Readers, what’s your recommendation?
