It can be a problem for corporations to satisfy the European Union’s new targets for the usage of sustainable aviation fuels, or SAFs, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz mentioned at an business convention on Monday.
“We have committed ourselves in Germany to the market ramp-up of these fuels,” he mentioned in Hamburg, in response to a transcript of his speech.
Earlier this month, the European Parliament adopted a deal to set binding targets for airways in Europe to extend their use of SAFs, which have web-zero CO2 emissions or decrease CO2 emissions than the fossil gas kerosene.
Industry representatives, together with Lufthansa CEO Carsten Spohr, have warned that reaching the targets is not going to be potential with at present’s manufacturing, with SAFs at present making up only a fraction of airways’ gas.
