Arlington, VA — The Mine Safety and Health Administration is accepting till Sept. 9 purposes for its Brookwood-Sago Mine Safety Grants.
The company will present as much as $1 million in grant funding for states, territories, and personal and public organizations to develop instructional and coaching applications “focused on workplace safety and health hazards faced by miners.” The applications will cowl matters corresponding to:
- Exposure to respirable mud and crystalline silica
- Safe use of powered haulage and cell gear
- Mine emergency and mine rescue preparedness
- Electrical safety
- Insufficient coaching of latest and inexperienced miners
- Lack of coaching for managers and supervisors performing mining duties
- Pillar safety for underground mines
- Lack of non-public protecting gear to forestall falls from top and different unsafe situations
MSHA says it can place “special emphasis” on applications and supplies which can be geared towards miners at smaller mines. Additionally, the company will eye applications that concentrate on underserved populations in the business and prioritize variety, fairness, inclusion and accessibility.
