Construction Suicide Prevention Week, an outreach occasion aimed toward addressing a rising problem within the trade, is ready for Sept. 9-13.

Scheduled throughout National Suicide Prevention Month, the week features a nationwide stand-down and second of silence at 2:50 p.m. Eastern on Sept. 9.

Event organizers cite Centers for Disease Control and Prevention statistics displaying that the development trade has the second highest suicide charge, at 53.3 per 100,000 full-time equal employees.

The occasion web site contains hyperlinks to movies, webinars and toolbox talks supposed to “help employers effectively support mental wellness” amongst employees or to prepare a stand-down.

About 300,000 building employees from 47 states and territories registered for Construction Suicide Prevention Week in 2023, the organizers say.
