Dallas — OSHA Region 6 has up to date and renewed its Regional Emphasis Program centered on transportation tank cleaning operations.
“Transportation tanks are confined spaces and may contain a potential hazardous atmosphere exposing workers to the risk of death, incapacitation, impairment of the ability to self-rescue or acute illness,” OSHA says.
Other hazards embrace fires, explosions and publicity to hazardous chemical substances.
The REP went into impact Aug. 1 and can stay so till July 31, 2028, “but may be renewed as necessary.” It applies to workplaces in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and worksites in New Mexico below federal authority.
