Harrisburg, PA — A new Pennsylvania regulation says state freeway construction and upkeep autos can show flashing/revolving fluorescent inexperienced lights to assist defend roadway staff and drivers throughout inclement climate.
Signed into regulation by Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) on July 17, H.B. 2182 permits the inexperienced lights to be added to state-authorized autos to make sure their visibility, notably throughout foggy or whiteout circumstances. The autos have already got yellow lights.
Under the regulation, the autos can show a number of flashing or revolving inexperienced lights as a part of momentary rules. The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission can have till Aug. 16, 2027, to finalize rules that embody how intense the lights may be and the way they’re displayed.
Rep. Jim Marshall (R-Beaver County), the invoice’s major sponsor, instructed PennLive.com that the thought happened from an area borough roadmaster who talked about that Ohio started utilizing inexperienced lights on snowplows in 2012 after a rise in crashes involving the autos.
The state Senate handed the invoice unanimously (49-0) in July, after the House (201-0) did so in June.
