Greenbelt, MD — The outcomes of the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s thirty seventh annual International Roadcheck are in.
Over three days in May, inspectors throughout North America – many from legislation enforcement – checked braking techniques, lights, tires and different tools on business vans and buses.
Nearly 49,000 inspections have been carried out. CVSA says 4.8% of the autos and 23% of the drivers inspected have been positioned out of service. Defective service brakes accounted for 25% of vehicle out-of-service violations, adopted by tires (20.8%) and different brake violations (18.3%). The main causes of driver out-of-service violations have been hours of service (32.1%), no business driver’s license (25.4%) and no medical card (11.2%).
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration participates within the International Roadcheck program, together with the Canadian Council of Motor Transport Administrators; Transport Canada; and Mexico’s Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation.
